I bumped into Debut drummer Ben Mulhern a couple weeks back (at the gym, no less, after a hardcore gun-building session—gotta keep that strength up for the rock), and he told me all about this benefit show. I'll let him take it:On December 31st of last year, two dear friends of ours were involved in a terrible car accident while vacationing outside of Portland, OR. Alisa Huttes, who lives in St. Paul, went into a coma as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. For many months, she was in a vegetative state-and we are happy to report that she has since awoke and is slowly regaining her motor skills. Unfortunately, Alisa’s medical bills for the four-plus months of hospital care and rehabilitation are ASTRONOMICAL.
Though we are not wealthy financially, we are rich in musical energy. We feel that it is our duty to use our rocking tunes to provide support for Alisa and her family. To that end, they've put together a great bill of bands to play at the Triple Rock on Friday, June 13, including The Debut themselves, Big Ditch Road, and the Wars of 1812. Check out their MySpace pages below for some musical sampling: www.myspace.com/thedebutrocks www.myspace.com/bigditchroad www.myspace.com/thewarsof1812 Doors are at 9 p.m., the show is 18+, and the cost is $10—a paltry sum to pay for some good, good rocking and for the worthy cause of helping out a friend in need. |
