![]() In case you all didn't know, the Electric Fetus, that venerated and legendary Minnesota record store, is turning 40 this year, and they've just announced a truly great set of in-store performances for the week leading up to their celebratory blowout at First Ave on Friday, June 13. Here's the press release info on the in-stores: Tuesday, June 10th Atmosphere and Brother Ali 9:30 PM This is a private event. Customers will only be admitted with a pass issued by The Electric Fetus – 1 admission per pass. The passes for this event are completely free and will all be given out on a first come, first serve basis at The Electric Fetus when the store opens at 9 AM on Tuesday, June 10th – 1 pass per customer. No exceptions. This event is strictly limited to 350 people. On the day of the event, the store will be open for business from 9 AM until 9 PM as usual. At 9 PM the store will be closed and then re-opened again from 9:15-11 PM, admitting only those with passes for the event. Atmosphere and Brother Ali will perform a short set together at 9:30 PM. Attendees of this event will be able to shop before and after the event until 11 PM. Haley will perform solo. Her new album Big Star (Afternoon Records) will be released nationally the previous day and will be available at this event. Roma di Luna’s third studio recording Casting the Bones will be available for the first time in stores at this event. Free juiceboxes for the kiddies. Free coffee for the adults courtesy of Peace Coffee. Free snacks for anyone who likes snacks courtesy of The Birchwood Café. For more information on TTBB: www.teddybearband.com Sunday, June 15th JAZZ! Donald Washington 2 PM / The James Buckley Trio 4 PM These events are free and open to the public. Donald Washington will perform a solo saxophone set from 2 to 3 PM. Donald is a longtime customer and friend of The Fetus. Local jazz greats The James Buckley Trio is Bryan Nichols on keys, JT Bates on drums and namesake James Buckley on double-bass. The big celebration happens at First Avenue and the Seventh St. Entry on Friday, June 13 and will feature performances by Doomtree, Polara, The Hypstrz, Tony Glover & V3, and The New Standards in the mainroom and A Night in the Box, Jon Rodine, Moon Maan and The Electric Fetus All-Stars (of which I must confess I'm a member) in the Entry.
