 Dessa with DJ Paper Tiger (L) at the Making Music series The Whole Music Club at the U of M is about to open their sixth season of the Making Music series, which kicks off with Erik Appelwick (of Vicious Vicious and Tapes 'n' Tapes) on Sept. 27, but in the meantime, they've updated their online archives and their web page now boasts clips from Dessa, Josh Grier, Ryan Olcott, ANT, Andrew Bird, Robin Rimbaud (Scanner), James Diers, Haley Bonar, Robert Skoro, Martin Dosh, Wendy Lewis, and Dave King. The schedule for the fall season is up there as well, but if you need to know right now, here it is: Erik Appelwick (September 27th), Alan Sparhawk (October 10th), and Slug (November 29th). You might want to start making plans for that Slug one, 'cause it's sure to sell out and quick. In case you don't know, what basically happens is that local musician James Everest talks with a musical guest about their life and how they got into music and he does a great job of really getting at the nut of creativity. The guests also play some music of their own, an these performances are often spectacular, as when Andrew Bird explained how he layers sounds to perform his songs live. |
